Leuven 2023
On Thursday, October 26th, about thirty students from the Dutch 2 course visited Leuven with their teachers, Mrs. Cutaia, Mrs. de Lamotte, and Mrs. Nsita. The purpose of this day was to allow students to engage with the Dutch language and Flemish culture outside of their three hours of weekly classes.
The morning was dedicated to exploring the historic center of the city to admire, among other things, the town hall, St. Peter’s Church, the Beguinages, the Botanical Garden, and also to discover various key buildings of the KU Leuven.
In the afternoon, the group visited the Vaartkom district, undergoing redevelopment, where the original Stella Artois Brewery was located. They then participated in a tour of the current brewery site, which is now part of the AB Inbev group, the world’s largest brewing company.
The students had the opportunity to see the brewery in full operation and concluded the day by enjoying a well-deserved Stella Artois!
Le jeudi 26 octobre, une trentaine d’étudiants du cours de Néerlandais 2 se sont rendus à Leuven avec leurs professeures Madame Cutaia, Madame de Lamotte et Madame Nsita. L’objectif de cette journée était de permettre aux étudiants d’être en contact avec le néerlandais et la culture flamande en dehors de leurs trois heures de cours hebdomadaires.
La matinée fut consacrée à la visite du centre historique de la ville afin d’admirer, entre autres, l’hôtel de ville, l’Eglise Saint-Pierre, les Béguinages et le Jardin Botanique mais aussi de découvrir différents bâtiments-clés de la KUL.
L’après-midi, le groupe s’est rendu dans le quartier du Vaartkom, en pleine réhabilitation, où était implantée à l’origine la Brasserie Stella Artois avant de participer à une visite du site actuel de la brasserie, qui fait aujourd’hui partie du groupe AB Inbev, le plus grand groupe brassicole du monde.
Les étudiants ont ainsi pu découvrir la brasserie en pleine action et clôturer la journée en dégustant une Stella Artois bien méritée !
